About Me

I grew up in a household where Mac and cheese was a side dish not an entree. A normal dinner at our house could consist of Fried chicken,  mashed taters and homemade gravy, Mac and cheese, green beans and apple crisp for dessert. Just one example of the awesome  and oh so yummy comfort food we were accustomed to every night. It was the only way i knew to eat and cook as I grew into an adult. It seemed like we always had people coming and going around dinner time so my mom always made extra just in case, and I grew up doing the same. It is hard even today for me to make a meal for Mark and I without having too much left over. lol Some might say this is an exaggeration but I can assure you that the comments you will hear in our house usually sound something like, "Dang babe are you cooking for an army?" lol I really TRY to make small meals, it just doesn't work out so well.

I was always overweight and struggled with health issues into my adult years, which got progressively worse. Ya know, at some point life can just spiral and you don't even realize how you got to the point that feels like there could be no return.  In 2014 I came to a point in my life where  finding health and wellness for myself was eminent.  Through testimony of some dear friends I began to attend regular meetings with a doctor who would soon start my journey to weight loss. Surgery was not the only Change I would be making, as I had to start by re-arranging my brain  when it comes to food and  making a lifestyle change that would begin my Journey of good choices, healthy eating and all around wellness.

I had a gastric bypass in 2015 and within the first year I began to  take myself off   of over a dozen medications, lost over 100 pounds and began to adopt a new way of life when it came to food. I was now "eating to live, instead of living to eat!"

I listened to people say I took the easy route, or chicken exit and lots of other comments but I knew because I was living it that it was NO chicken exit....it was hard!  It doesn't matter what road you take to make changes in your life, it is never easy. There will always be struggle when it comes to creating new habits, changing and re-arranging your mind.

I still struggle today as  my 5 year anniversary passed I can still see success and I also see areas that I have gotten lazy in and it's time to re-arrange that brain again!  every single day is a choice to make good and bad choices when it comes to what we eat, if we choose to exercise (this one is hard for me) but you can do it!!! I believe in you, and I believe in myself. I know if I keep my mind SET on my intended goal that I will always be successful in all things great and small.

Take a step today to make healthy changes in your life! Start with baby steps, find a friend you can share your journey with, be accountable and don't wait for that "next Monday" to come lol  start today! You can do it!
